Description of the assessment system

During the term the assessement of the classes 9.a., 9.b. and 10. b. does not follow the traditional marking-method, but the way it is described below.

1. Instead of marks, students earn points. With the help of the earned points, students are able to reach certain levels, each one lasting about 4-6 weeks. In proportion to the amount of the received points on a particular level, students get a weighted grade.

2. Points can be earned by completing certain tasks set by the teacher or by handing in other extra materials (connected to the curriculum, and previously arranged with the teacher).

3. The duration of the levels can vary between 4-5 weeks, but it will always be discussed in class in advance. Students will always be informed at the very beginning of a level about the possibilities of earning points. It is important that students have to decide what tasks they want to complete, but if they decide to leave any of them out (e.g. writing a short test), the missed points can only be earned by handing in other tasks (home assigments, article review, etc.). All students are responsible for themselves, the theacher will not warn students about their unsufficient amount of points, or missed tests. It is the students’ responsibility to gain the sufficent amount of points on a level. However, the teacher is always ready to help; if out of ideas, students can turn to him with confidence, or can look for interesting and useful materials on this website shared by the teacher. The current status of points can always be followed on the platform of BeeTheBest.

4. At the end of every level, points become grades in the following way:

  • If students recive a 5 at the end of the level, excess points do not get lost, but can be turned into extra 5s later.
  • The calculation of the midterm-and endterm grades is done according to the avarege of grades received at the end of the levels.
